android - Any workarounds for protobyname error? -

when seek apply ip tables rooted android device via adb next error:

protoent* getprotobyname(char const*)(3) not implemented on android

i have done research on net , understand outstanding error. have not seen workarounds or fixes if there any? (or @ to the lowest degree none written in plain english).

if explain or point me in right direction appreciated.
