i have special case in iphone app have display badge on tappable ui element , not in tab bar ... acceptable ? read ios guidelines , says tab bar can display badge (red oval) didn't mention point stating should placed there (tab bar)

and if bad ux practice, should design custom icon looks badge , utilize in specific case ?

if badge can shown in tabbar not mean can't shown somewhere else.
