iphone - Objective c- Is it possible to do animation without using the GPU? -

is possible animations , forcefulness done in cpu instead of in gpu?

i'll seek explain motivation, 1 of screens big view lot of gpu work, have few button , controllers suppose animations slide side side when tapped..

the problem is, in older devices such ipod, button animation slow (i suppose because gpu powerfulness used main view). though, maybe there way forcefulness animation done in cpu instead?

the short reply no.

in mac os , ios, gpu responsible rendering graphics onto display.

any cpu-based animation still create utilize of gpu in order render contents screen. underlying graphics engine opengl.

on ios, core animation layers map straight display tiles in graphics hardware.

trying purely cpu-based graphics might backfire, because end having render every frame on cpu, , still re-create pixels gpu memory.
