i discovered enaml, python gui development bundle enthought. i'm interested in using enthought traits , chaco more rapid scientific application development. i've been using python(x,y) base of operations python installation because spyder (familiar coming matlab background) initial ambition build pyqt application.

python(x,y) comes enthought tool suite seems contain of enthought's internally developed tools traits, chaco, mayavi, , enaml. saw pygotham slides on enaml , found tutorial examples looks cool! when seek run first example, however, error:

i figured out brand new installation of python(x,y) 2.7.3.1 has enthought tool suite version 4.2 , enaml version 0.2... online enaml documentation version 0.6.3. guess question - what's best path python(x,y) user utilize enaml?

i trying avoid using enthought python distribution outright, because i'm using @ work , not have authorization or funding purchase paid version. can enthought tool suite built python(x,y) updated enthought source repositories? can enaml updated individually?

i haven't used python(x,y), assume can build project source. best course of study of action right now. putting lot of efforts enaml has disadvantage of making rapidly changing. not surprising version 0.2 doesn't run of examples pygotham.

fyi, epdfree allows update packages including enaml. considering number of commits enaml everyweek, still recommend building source epd few months cool features going in.
