when @ field, either via dispform (individual item) or view of list, see value. when take edit field, value shown in effect different see in view.

this happens sometimes--too comfortable.

i cannot imagine how can happen. ideas?

here's how situation described in original posting has worked out.

as ondreij asked, field in question selection field. status field provided in email sent sharepoint, , utilize value populate field in question.

what appears have happened string got written some part of list. when checked value of field after writing (using edit facility), found "real" value had not changed default "0".

there couple problems. in 1 case, had listed 1 of selection values "...bc..." original status string uses "...bureau coordinator..." 1 easy. case has "...to..." in selection strings status value passed "...to..." sneakier.

but big surprise status 4, none of can tell difference between status value , selection value. there must difference, because next code shows, replacing status string selection string allows finish designed.
