internet explorer 8 - Quality of scaled images worse in IE8/9, than in IE7 -



internet explorer 8 - Quality of scaled images worse in IE8/9, than in IE7 -

try opening this page in ie7 , ie9.

as page mentions, uses -ms-interpolation-mode:bicubic.

i've read setting has been disabled in ie8/9 because default style (in ie7, nearest-neighbor default interpolation mode).

however, image quality in ie8/9 much worse in ie7, shown here:

what gives? there way improve scaled downwards images in ie8/9?

use css fit-and-shrink technique, demonstrated here:

it layers 2 copies of image, 1 fixed width , 1 fixed height, preserve aspect ratio.
