excel - update cell background in different sheet? -

i've tried below doesn't work, above function sans sheets(""). tag works update existing cell range in active sheet,

sheets("sheet2").range("d7").interior.colorindex = 38

anyone have solutions? i've tried searching on google , seem find how alter color on active sheet...
